Doctor Dave

Dr. Okawachi was born in Berkeley, California. He was raised in the small city of Albany, California until making the trek to southern California to attend Loyola University of Los Angeles (now Loyola Marymount University).  He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Loyola University in 1976 and went on to attend the University of Southern California school of Dentistry.  After completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1980, he continued on at USC in their Pediatric Dentistry specialty program.  He completed his hospital pediatric dental residency at USC and Rancho los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California.

Immediately after completing his Pediatric Dental specialty program, Dr. Okawachi became the first full time staff pediatric dentist at the Children’s Dental Health Clinic located in Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.   Dr. Okawachi presently possesses faculty status privileges at Miller Children’s Hospital at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and is a part time faculty member of the USC school of Dentistry.  He continues to supervise the pediatric dental residents of USC at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach.  Dr. Okawachi is an active staff member of the dental section at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

Dr, Okawachi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He also holds active membership in the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association and the Orange County Dental Society.  He has been in full time private practice in Anaheim since 1985.  Dr. Okawachi resides in Orange County with his wife and three children.  He is active in his children’s youth sports teams and with his boys’ Boy Scout Troop.
